Bridgeway Senior Healthcare Medical Director Named National Infectious Disease Clinician of the Year

— Bridgewater, Hillsborough, New Jersey

Ronald Nahass, MD, MHCM, FIDSA, Medical Director at Bridgeway Senior Healthcare in Bridgewater and
Hillsborough, New Jersey, has been selected by the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) to receive
its prestigious 2020 Watanakunakorn Clinician Award.

Named to honor the memory of Dr. Chatrchai Watanakunakorn, a model clinician who worked tirelessly to
advance the clinical practice of infectious disease, this award is given annually by the IDSA Education and
Research Foundation to an IDSA member or fellow in recognition of outstanding achievement in the clinical
practice of infectious diseases.

“I am really humbled to be included on such an exclusive list of awardees,” said Dr. Nahass.
A pioneer in state-of-the-art treatments for complex infectious diseases, Dr. Nahass has been working
tirelessly with the Bridgeway nursing team to develop, approve and implement exceptional infection prevention
protocols to keep patients, residents and staff at Bridgeway safe. “Bridgeway staff is grateful for Dr. Nahass’
leadership during the challenges of COVID-19 as we strive to stay on the forefront of the latest infection control
and prevention practices,” said Jessica Pelligrino Tsoukalas, Director of Business Development and Strategy.

Dr. Nahass’ work at Bridgeway began many years ago when he and his team implemented a Rapid Response
Protocol to decrease dangerous, costly and undesired rehospitalizations. This means that patients who have
changes in condition get the best care possible as soon as possible.

Dr. Nahass has been awarded several outstanding honors throughout his career, including the American
Medical Association’s Physician Recognition Award for Continuing Medical Education with a special
commendation for self-directed learning. He’s consistently recognized as a Top Doctor by New Jersey
Monthly magazine, Best Doctor by New York magazine, and nominated one of the Best Doctors in
America by Best Doctors®.

Beyond his work at Bridgeway, Dr. Nahass mentors students and younger physicians in both clinical research
and clinical care. He also spends time volunteering with the IDSA to help champion the highest quality of care
on a national basis. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (ACP), the IDSA, and the Society for
Healthcare Epidemiology of America (SHEA).

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Nahass’ motto has been:

Remember the 4 Ws

Wear a mask
Watch your space
Wash your hands
When sick, stay home

We can limit New Jersey’s risk for resurgence.
